Is there someone finally noticing that teen horror flicks are becoming a bore???

I recently went to go see the film Dead Silence with my girlfriend, which was at best a better than average popcorn ghost movie with some well done creepo sequences. Not to mention, I saw it at Block E; it made for a much more interesting experience, if you know what I mean. But what I was most impressed with at the show was a trailer that played called Vacancy starring Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale. Now I can't say whether or not this film will be any good, but I can say that the trailer is amazing. First of all, THANK GOD that this isn't a violent teen sex romp with the hippest new sound track from Nickelback. Second, we finally have a movie featuring two ADULTS in peril, which I personally think makes for a scarier more serious film, and third it took me back...back to the golden age of cinema. Back to the days of films like Race with the Devil and Deliverance, smart and stunning films that show urgency and terror in an intense cold blooded way. The film as a great yet simple premise; a couple take the back way to get to there destination and have car trouble. They find a seedy motel and have no choice but to stay the night. After popping in a crusty VHS tape which is thought to be filled with "classics" they suddenly realize that the people in the room before them were brutal murdered and were videotaped at that! The film then documents their fights to escape the locked room... HOLY CRAP! Simple, intriguing, provacative, frightening! In terms of trailer art...I would have cut this trailer down, maybe taken a third of it out and kept more of the mood instead of the action which the "intense" ending montage shows. Watch the trailer and you'll know what I mean. Montage number one works, number two...shows a little too much and kind of kills the creepy vibe. My solution, right after moody montage number 1, cut to black and go directly to Luke Wilson in the phone booth. END! VACANCY (in creepy motel font with scary ambient track)
Heres the trailer, check it out! Also the film style is awesome, burned out and dark...

I saw this trailer a few

I saw this trailer a few weeks ago and I thought it was a pretty great vicious horror action thriller concept. The only thing in the trailer that seriously makes me wary is the overly dirty motel room they are in. It's really at the comical level of filth where I, personally, would just sleep in my car rather than stay in a shit hole like that. Maybe if they had toned it back a bit I'd buy the plot propeller.

I like the wacky desk clerk, the creepy entrance of the local weirdos, the actual DARKNESS of the film (unlike most Masters of Horror I've been watching that are way too fucking bright), the music after Luke Wilson says his line about "Ending up like them" which is all backwoodsy and ominous, and the phone both stuff. It's also just cool to see Luke Wilson doing a horror film.

I agree it would work better had it been shorter but this is the full trailer. The TV spots are much better for the quick 30 second terror punches. I guess it's not going to be a big surprise in theaters unless, like The Descent, you just get caught up in the characters. Hopefully that's the case.
