I was wondering if you guys had any good recommendations from the video nasties era. Im currently looking to be purchasing a movie called "Unhinged." It looks terribly good. Any others you might want to suggest or any favorites??
Thanks guys.

Try turning off your caps lock Mike. :P
I've heard the term a few times of the Video Nasties Era but I've never gotten a concrete answer for the years it takes place in. I guess Wikipedia has the best answer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_nasty
Plus a nice list of films in there. Apparently it's whatever films landed on that list.
I know "I Spit On Your Grave" is considered one. And it's a flick that Mike has seen.
"Cannibal Holocaust" is considered the king of the nasties.
"Driller Killer" is also in there but it's just plain awful.
"Eaten Alive" AKA "Death Trap" is Tobe Hooper's first film after TCM and it's pretty terrible.
"The Funhouse" is another Tobe Hooper that proves he hit a peak with his first major film.
Obviously you've seen "Evil Dead" which is on the list.
"The House by the Cemetery" or as I like to think of it the bad version of "The Beyond". Interesting only if you want to see more Fulci.
"Last House on the Left" is worth a viewing possibly only for the fact it's about to be remade. Otherwise it's only known for it's last 20 minutes or so.
"Shogun Assassin" is actually a re-edit of the two films we reviewed in our 10th Vidcast; "Lone Wolf and Cub". I'd say just get the original series in total because they are all badass.
"Tenebrae" is a fun Argento film.
"The Toolbox Murders" is an interesting film to watch because it is another film to prove Tobe Hooper's mediocrity. Not the original mind you but his terrible 2004 in name only remake. Try watching them back to back.
"Twitch of the Death Nerve" is one I have been looking to watch for a few years now.
There are probably way more that aren't really considered Nasties but I wouldn't know where to categorize them.
When There's no more room in HELL the dead will walk the earth.
Yeah im looking into more of the horror films on list twitch of the death nerve is definetly worth a viewing. and driller killer is pretty bad i actually got it with a 50 pack of "Chiller Classics"
Thanks for the input Ben much appreciated.
WOULDN'T "SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT" BE ON THAT LIST AS WELL? MAYBE THIS IS VIDEO NASTY, BUT I HAVE A VHS TAPE OF THIS MOVIE CALLED SIDESHOW IN ONE OF THOSE OLD HUGE PLASTIC TAPE CASES. THE BACK OF THE CASE SAYS THE TAPE RETAILED FOR 69.95. OH! AND ONE SHOULD NOT FORGET..."HOME SWEET HOME(aka Blood Party)." I KNOW YOU'LL LOVE ME FOR THAT ONE BEN AND THE FACT THAT I KEPT MY CAPS LOCK ON. (: PS. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND "SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE" NO MATTER HOW CLASSIC IT IS. MINUS THE WAY THE END CREDITS ROLL, THE MOVIE HAS NO VALUE WHATSOEVER.

HEY SCOTT, TO BE HONEST WITH
HEY SCOTT,
TO BE HONEST WITH YA, I REALLY DON'T KNOW. I HAVEN'T WATCHED MANY IF ANY FROM THE VIDEO NASTIES GENRE. THERE WAS A MOVIE I SAW A LONG TIME AGO CALLED "FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE" THAT WAS ABOUT THIS BLACK FAMILY THAT GETS HELD HOSTAGE BY SOME CRAZY WHITE KILLERS. THEY HAVE TO PROTECT THEMSELVES AND FIGHT OFF THE ONSLAUGHT. IT WAS AN ANTI RACIST FILM, YET VERY DARK. FROM THE MID SEVENTIES I THINK. DON'T KNOW IF THIS QUALIFIES, BUT I HAVE RECENTLY STRAYED AWAY FROM THE ULTRA EXPLOITIVE STUFF. BEEN MORE INTO ACTION, CAR CHASE, THRILLER STUFF FROM THE 70'S AS OF LATE. I'M SURE BEN HAS SOME SUGGESTIONS THOUGH (:
