Hey Fellas, Long time no see. Being a Fan of The Giallo Genre I was curious if you guys were big on any certain movies or directors of the Giallo Genre? Mike I know you enjoy Fulci (As do I) any others you can tell me about? Ive recently thrown myself into the realm of Italian cinema and to tell you the truth I think its better than a lot of the American stuff. I', really diggint the work of Dario Argento And Fulci.
So all in all Just wondering your guys take on the Giallo films.
Thanks as always!

Hey Scott, good to hear from
Hey Scott, good to hear from ya. If you haven't already you have to see Bird with the Crystal Plumage by Argento. Pinnacle gloved killer movie. I also love Suspiria and Opera by Argento as well. I really want to see 4 Flies on Gray Velvet and have been tempted to get a bootleg DVD of it whenever I go to conventions. Here's the deal with giallo cinema for me. I saw a bunch of these films in one big chunk, "Plumage" Suspiria, Opera, Cat o Nine Tails, The Beyond! and was so impressed with them that I had to search out these directors other things. I found that I watched the best ones first. The problem I have with most of these Italian films are there awkward dramatic arch. They are filled with great scenes followed by nothing happening. So I got tired of them and stopped watching, because it felt as though everyone I watched was worse than the last one. I recently saw the Card Player from Argento which is the film he made before Mother of Tears and it was ok. The problem is the film didn't have the wild imagination that the others did. I am sure the film Untraceable was inspired by it though. In any case, see the ones I listed above for not only some well done giallo, but some good if not interesting story telling. The thing about Fulci is that other than Beyond and Zombie I get so bored with his films. I rented New York Ripper, House by the Cemetery and City of the Living Dead and Don't Torture A duckling a couple years ago and they just don't have that spunk that the others I listed above have. I didn't even finish Duckling. I fell asleep and I rarely do that. For me, Fulci's best films are The Beyond and The Psychic. Zombie is good, but nothing compared to these gems. As for Argento, I haven't seen em all, but I will recommend Bird with the Crystal Plumage, Cat O Nine Tails, Suspiria, and Opera. Let me warn you that Opera has to have one of the coolest kills ever in a film. You'll know what I mean when you see it. Well I have ranted enough, but I thought I would get you a solid response. None of this piddly stuff!
